• How is this hand care collection different from existing Neal’s Yard Remedies collections?

  This is our first co-branded collection created in partnership with Morris & Co., curators of fine fabrics and wallpapers inspired by the artistic vision of designer and environmentalist William Morris. Morris’ love of nature gave him an unrivalled ability to distil Britain’s natural beauty into patterns for the home. This collection draws inspiration from his ‘Blackthorn’ print and features organic home-grown lavender, calendula and other nurturing herbs and wildflowers found in the meadows of England. 

  This is also our first fully vegan hand care collection. Where our other hand creams contain beeswax, English Lavender & Calendula Hand Cream is made with carnauba wax: a vegan-friendly alternative to beeswax that creates deep and longer-lasting moisture.

• In terms of efficacy, is there a difference between vegetarian and vegan formulations?

  There is no difference between our vegetarian and vegan formulations in terms of efficacy. We use responsible, sustainable, vegan-friendly ingredients wherever possible.

• Where do the key ingredients come from and what are their benefits?

  English Lavender Oil
  Our organic lavender essential oil is steam-distilled from the flowers and leaves of English lavender, which is planted, grown and tended by hand on a family-run farm in the Hampshire countryside. English lavender has a fresh, floral, naturally soothing scent which is notably softer than its French cousin.

  Calendula Tincture
  Tinctures are a traditional and convenient way to harness unique plant properties. Just a few steps away from our organic gardens, our home-grown calendula is steeped in a mixture of alcohol and water before being pressed. This preserves calendula’s active constituents and skin-soothing benefits.

• What are the key ingredients for each product, and their benefits?

  Hand Cream
  Carnauba Wax – A common thickening ingredient in cosmetics, often used as a vegan alternative to beeswax. The addition of carnauba wax to our English Lavender & Calendula Hand Cream creates a rich and luxurious texture which offers deeper and longer-lasting moisture.

  Brazil Nut Oil – A fast-absorbing oil which nourishes the skin without leaving behind a heavy or greasy residue after application.

  Hand Lotion
  Glycerine – A well-known humectant which holds onto moisture, keeping skin healthy and hydrated for longer.

  Sunflower Oil – Rich in vitamin E, omega-6, linoleic acid and carotenoids which can help protect and repair the skin by soothing and nourishing dryness.

  Hand Wash

  Aloe Vera – A humectant which attracts moisture to help soothe, condition and hydrate the skin.

  Rose Tincture – Tinctures are a traditional way to harness unique plant properties. Just a few steps away from our organic gardens, our roses are steeped in a mixture of alcohol and water before being pressed. This preserves the roses’ active constituents and skin-soothing benefits.

• Is this hand care collection suitable for all skin types including sensitive and eczema-prone skin?

  A patch test has shown that these products are suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skin. However, due to the inclusion of essential oils we would not recommend using these products on eczema-prone skin.

• Why do these products contain alcohol?

  The alcohol content comes from the calendula flower extract which is a tincture. A tincture is an alcohol and water-based preparation where a flower or herb is harvested and steeped in a mixture of alcohol and water before being pressed. The alcohol is used to extract the active constituents of the herb or flower to create a potent botanical blend.

• Do the products contain any know allergens?

  Avoid in case of use of known allergy to any of the listed ingredients: Brazil nut oil, geraniol, linalool, limonene, citronellol, citral. For sensitive skin users, we always recommend doing a patch test before use.

• Is the hand care collection safe to use during pregnancy and breastfeeding?

  All three products in this collection have been tested to ensure they are safe for use by all, including pregnant and nursing women.

• Is the hand care collection suitable for the whole family? If so, from what age?

  Yes, all products are suitable for the whole family including children aged 3+.

• How did the collaboration between Morris & Co. and Neal’s Yard Remedies come about?

  As two companies steeped in British heritage and united by a love of the British countryside, this partnership is an expression of shared values between brands. The collection encapsulates a long-term commitment to preserving and protecting biodiversity, and an ongoing celebration of the perennial beauty and the nurturing properties of herbs and wildflowers found in the meadows of England.

• Is this a limited-edition collection?

  No, this is the first co-branded collection, but further beauty and wellbeing collections will launch over the course of this long-term partnership. The English Lavender & Calendula collection is available to purchase in-store and online.

• Are there plans to expand the English Lavender & Calendula collection?

  We are working on our next co-branded collections, exploring the introduction of new scents as well as new products to complement the English Lavender & Calendula collection.

• Will there be travel size sets developed?

  We have no plans to create travel size sets for now. 

• Will the English Lavender & Calendula collection be available to purchase outside of the UK?

  Yes, please check the usual Neal’s Yard Remedies distribution channels.

• What is the difference between Morris & Co. and William Morris?

  William Morris was a British textile designer, poet, artist, writer and activist associated with the British Arts and Crafts movement. He was a major contributor to the revival of traditional British textile arts and their methods of production. He headed up a collective of artists, known as Morris & Co., to develop designs that would influence ways of viewing design and styles of living. Today, Morris & Co., continue his legacy through curating fine fabrics and wallpapers inspired by his works.
